We are fortunate to have a vinyl record store in our neighborhood. It’s called Permanent Records (the original is in Chicago). Like any small record store, it has fun — you might say zany — details. For example, its Open and Closed sign. Inside, you will find a skullcrow (as opposed to scarecrow — we don’t need those in the big city, much less inside a record store):
They often have in-store live shows. If you follow this blog, you might remember the Mau Maus performance that I featured about a week ago.
After they are closed, sometimes you can hear a band rehearsing in the back.
